Trash to Treasure


Can you believe this little beauty was sitting at the end of someone's driveway waiting for the garbage truck to take her away?  Beautiful she was not, covered in a very ugly orange/brown varnish, but I knew what was underneath and there was no way this little lady was going to come to a crushing end. 

One day was all it took to strip away the old varnish and give her a couple fresh coats of clear to bring out her natural beauty.  I also replaced the existing drawer knob with a very sweet antique porcelain brass knob. 

So, where will her new home be? My sewing room of course and a new work station just for my Quilters' Compost.

    I am always afraid to take something someone puts out for the trash. You got a beautiful little table after some elbow grease.

    It's wonderful! A couple of times, I've put something out that I'm hoping someone will take! I make sure to put it out early, and not on a rainy night. And I'm happy if someone finds it before the trash truck comes by. One woman's trash is another's treasure!! Glad you scored.

    BEAUTIFUL TREASURE.
    I used to do this, some years ago, (make over old furniture people were throwing away), but now my neck and shoulders don't allow it. But I know how you feel when you look at this beautiful table now. ENJOY IT:-)

    Wonderful table Karen , good for you taking it home and making it useful again and I just read your post about your Quilters compost and although I am not nearly so organized with my scraps nothing gets thrown out either . Thanks for those great tips.
