A Doll Quilt in the Making

Before Christmas I took advantage of the online sales and free shipping and placed an order for a couple of quilting books for my sister, for Christmas, and then I decided to purchase a book for myself, Amish Abstractions.  And, am I glad I did.  It is a wonderful book.

After Christmas, I attended a book warehouse sale and purchase four, brand new, not used, quilting books for $16.  Patchwork Skills & Techniques by Dorothy Wood, an excellent little book and it only cost me a $1.50.  Whip Up Mini Quilts by Kathreen Ricketson, for $2.50 and I love almost every pattern in the book.  And, the last two books cost $6.00 each, Quilt Romance by Kaffe Fassett (now that's a deal!) and 5,500 Quilt Block Designs by Maggie Malone.

The idea of mixing diamonds and squares together came from the book Patchwork Skills & Techniques.  I thought it would be a fun pattern for my first doll quilt and the 1930's fabric only added to the fun.  Hand piecing has just begun, so what you see has yet to be pressed.  Because I like to name my quilts, I think Confetti would be an appropriate name.

Until next time.....happy quilting!

What a pretty little quilt, Karen. I haven't seen that pattern before--it's certainly a great one for the little prints. You can't help but love Aunt Gracie's type fabric. Good books, too. I sent for three last night at Connecting Threads - always good prices there. I surely don't need anymore, but I so love my books. Have a great weekend. Carol

Thanks for the 'visit'. The bargains look very good to me. I only know the thick book with the 5500 quilt block designs. There are really a lot of them in the book. The Amish book looks fun to me too. I like your quilt. I never saw this combination I think.
