Peony Bloom

I must say, I was pleasantly surprised and pretty pleased with the outcome of Peony Bloom, from the Red Delicious BOM. I was afraid my peonies would look like big red blobs, but once I started adding the stems, it magically transformed them into beautiful flowers. Patience is definitely a prerequisite if you are needle-turning this block. The petals have lots of tiny points and there is no room for error when placing them. Is anyone else, out there, attempting to needle-turn Red Delicious?

I also finished my August Country Calendar block.

And, my Morris Workshop fabric finally arrived. Isn't it beautiful?

Until next week.....happy quilting!

Karen

Wow, your peonies look stunning. I was doing red delicious as red work, but it seems to have fallen by the way side and I've stopped collecting parts. You know how it is with a mystery sometimes. I'm still going with Country Calender though.

Karen I have not started my red delicious but I did do an applique from the William Morris book and it is so hard? Some of those stems are tiny and have little pickers and I am really having a hard time. The applique in that book was machine blanket stitched and I think but using the needle turn method I am actually making it smaller than what it already is.

The Red Delicious block turned out wonderful! I can see that it took some careful stitching with those tiny points.
I had to check and see if I had printed out the August pattern on the Country Calendar. Seeing yours reminded me. You are keeping up and that's a good thing. Can't say the same for myself.

Gorgeous block, Karen. That would be a hard block to needleturn, but you have really done a wonderful job. Red Delicious will be so pretty when it is all together. I ordered the William Morris book and was surprised to see that the quilts are machine appliqued. So many beautiful methods out there. The fabric is yummy!! Carol
