Beginning and Ending

Many hours were spent in the garden last week, weeding, deadheading, removing plants, turning compost and picking veggies. The garden is showing signs of an early fall and I'm okay with that. This gardener is ready for a rest.

As summer comes closer to an end, so does the Veranda Views BOM. I have now completed the last stitchery block, Enjoy the View. It's time to select fabric to frame my blocks, as the instructions for filler blocks and cornerstones will soon be posted.

I also prepared the next two Autumn POTC blocks, but only had time to piece together one. This one I call, Autumn Sky. Nothing like a brilliant blue sky and bright fall leaves.

Yes, I have many things on the go already and lots of patterns waiting to be made, but I came across a pattern by Corliss Searcey of Threadbear and well, you know the rest. So, last week, I ordered some background fabric and eagerly await its arrival. In the meantime, I will start preparing my templates for the first couple of blocks. I must be strong and remember that this is not the only project I have on the go. For those interested, Lizzie has started a blog called, The Civil War Bride Quilt.

Until next week.....happy quilting!

It is always a sad time when the garden finishes for the season, no more fresh vegies, or summer flowers. It's a sure sign that seasons are beginning to change. I like the Verandah Views block and it's saying.

The CWB quilt is an amazing quilt! I am sure you will love making it.

My Morrell quilt is from the same shop (Threadbear), although a different designer.

Our gardens here are just beginning to grow again with warmer weather and longer days.

Beautiful stitchery. :)

Yes, my garden is also showing signs of early fall. Unfortunately that means winter is not far behind. Your POTC block is gorgeous!

Here in Michigan, it seems like we really haven't had much summer - but I do love the cooler weather. What a gorgeous quilt the Civil War Bride will be. Isn't that a replica of a very famous old quilt top? I enjoyed checking out the blog you linked to. Don't blame you for being excited about getting started on that lovely project. Carol

We finally got some cooler weather and I will be working in the garden too which I love to do when it is cool. I just finished the Verandah View block too. I have some borders on some of the blocks. It is going to be a cute quilt.

Love your POTC block! That particular Kashmir fabric works well there (I believe that's Kashmir but ??). Love it.
