Seeing Red

Look at me go! I just finished Nightshade, block two, of Red Delicious. I'm so very far behind and block six has already been released. To be honest, I have been avoiding it. I think it is more designed for fusible applique or stitchery, then hand applique. But, now that block two is complete, I am feeling a little more comfortable with it.

White Lily - Fritillaria

Dad's Magnolia

Country Calendar - April

Saturday was perfect for working in the garden. A little on the cool side, but glorious! Sunday, I made a cup of tea, put on a sweater and spent four wonderful hours, in the garden, worked on hexagon flowers for Karen's Flower Garden.

Until next week.....happy quilting!

Karen

Beautiful block with fabulous applique. Love the flower pictures too. We had too much rain to be outside this weekend.

You're doing better than me. I didn't make it passed block two of any of the BOMs I wanted to do! I'm still collecting the patterns though and I WILL finish them at some point.

Your applique is just beautiful. Although I have only ever done a little hand applique and it not necessarily my cup of tea, I have such a fondness and appreciation for it. In fact, I love it, just wish I had the time to really do it and get better at it.

Your red fabric choices are so good! And so is your stitching. I think I would have had to fuse and stitch. I couldn't get the first pattern to print out, so I am not doing this project. Love seeing yours, though.

Your applique is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful job! The rose pattern is really more complex but I read on the Yahoo group that you could embroider the thorns on the stems and that would make the hand applique easier for that block. Regardless, you have a stunner going.

Your applique is fabulous! I really like that block much better that way vs. the fused. I started collecting those patters too but my plate was too full.

I was just on Carol's blog: "funoldhag" and seeing her Red Delicious block and now yours! Your block is great. So much like the flowers you took. Anxious to see the finished project.

Your block is wonderful! I too have lost my steam with this quilt. I have the 5th block just about completed and need to finish it, so I can get the 6th block done. It really is a lovely quilt, so I'm not sure why I am struggling with it so much. I seem to find just about anything else to work on, but this. Seeing your lovely block may be just the boost that I need!

Oh my goodness!!! Your Red Delicious block is gorgeous!!! I can sympathize with your hand applique dilemma... I'm working on a project designed for fusible too, and it is pretty challenging adapting it and then doing it by hand. But, looking at your block, I can tell you with certainty: it is so worth it!!!

Your pics of flowers really show the inspiration for this wonderful quilt. I've been watching "funoldhag" doing the same blocks. You both are amazing applique artists.
