January arrives and settles in like an old fashioned winter. And, even though the garden appears to be deserted, tracks in the newly fallen snow tell a different story.
We don't have any bears around here, but I thought it would be fun to piece together Bear's Paw Quilt from Kathleen Tracy's book Prairie Children and Their Quilts. Made from flannels I had on hand, machine pieced and quilted.
I like this time of year, the quiet season. A time to rest and enjoy a slower pace of life, more time for reading and needlework and time to get back to hand quilting. I was so close to finishing my Red Delicious quilt when Spring arrived, but I am finished now, just the binding to go.
Until next time.....happy quilting!
Karen

Nice Bear's paw! I'm not buying fabric right now, but I would like to get some flannels in the future.
I'm just about to start on my Bear's Paw quilt, but I'll be using my cotton scraps instead of flannel. Hope you get the binding on your Red Delicious soon as it will be a lovely finish.
Happy New Year Karen.
Lovely Bear's Paw quilt and I like the middle block with the little bear and and stripes with log cabin by the tree. It is so perfect. Looking forward seeing your Red Delicious.
It sounds almost idyllic :-)
Happy New Year,

Good to "hear" from you Karen what a cute little quilt. Red delicious sounds lovely, How ids your Dear Jane going? that must be close by now. :-)
Karen, Beautiful Bear's Paw Quilt. I love that pattern! My mom made me a quilt with that same pattern, she also used bright fabrics.
Of all the quilt's I've made - Flannels are my family's favorites. When choosing one to snuggle up to--- the flannel ones are the first ones grabbed every time.
Happy New Year Karen - enjoy your quiet time. xx
