14 made last week
The last of my fall klosjes completed and just in time, as the busiest month of the year approaches. Before Santa arrives I hope to have a few Christmas klosjes to show you.
My name is Karen
And I am a
Compulsive Quilting Hoarder
The day a stack of fabric filled containers came crashing down to the floor; I knew I had become a Compulsive Quilting Hoarder. After taking a good long look around my sewing room, I realized that it had become too small for all my quilting stuff.
In hoarding terms, my sewing room would be called a clog. In my clog I have several clots. A clot is a "work in progress" or an "unfinished project" that sits around, unmoved for years at a time. Does this sound familiar? I am also obsessed with fabric and wonder just how many yards of fabric one needs to have before they can truly be called a hoarder?
One of my big goals for 2011 is to decrease my quilt related shopping. I'm not too worried about it, I'm pretty sure I can do it. I also need to decrease the time I spend on the computer, because this is the only way I will be able to gain more quilting time and start using some of that stash.
This year felt like a year without applique and I missed it, so I will make that my focus in 2011. Hand piecing will continue, which I love, and I plan to start adding some Doll Quilts to the mix. I also look forward to getting back to hand quilting on a regular basis and relaxing with my stitchery.
How are your goals for the New Year coming along?
Until next time.....happy quilting!
Karen

Hi Karen,
I only have one goal. To do what ever I´m in the mood for : knitting, sewing, stitching and enjoying all crafts :-)
happy quilting
Angelika
My goal is to start less and finish more. But I'm trying that for years now and I don't think I'm good at it ;o)
Haven't started thinking about 2011 goals...but maybe I will now that you mention it. My goal at the moment is to keep making progress but not lose sight of why I quilt...the joy on the receiver's face. And the joy of creating! Btw, love that palette of blue fabric!
Hi Karen,
I'm hoping to get a few more unfinished projects finished. Quite a few are BOM's that I paid quite a lot of money for and then popped in a cupboard and forgot about. The trouble is there are just more and more great things appearing on blogs and I love the feeling of being part of the group and joining in. One vow is to make at least one charity quilt a month. Have a great week.
Love your klosjes. And you are already thinking about 2011
Don't be so hard on yourself Karen, if you set goals in 2011 to share your wealth you will succeed! Maybe create an online Compulsive Quilting Hoarder Anonymous group to start off with a confessional post and monthly goals for 2011 maybe remove 4 yards of stash, complete 1 ufo, organize patterns, etc. :)
Good luck!
I think part of being a quilter is wanting to do everything you see and not being able to get things done fast enough to start on something new. I no longer make large projects since it isn't realistic to think I have lots of years ahead of me anymore. But for the ones ahead that I do have, I will continue to start projects, work to get them finished and keep buying fabric for new ones! You do such lovely work and most of it is hand done - that is so cool! Enjoy, Karen! Carol
My goal is also to finish more Ufo's, and I hope all of them! I'm also a hoarder of fabric, I think I'm just like you! But... let's enjoy it!
Greetings, Cisca
My goal is to only buy fabric for projects already in progress. Border fabric, binding, backings, etc..........
My fabric diet has gone wonderfully this year and I want to continue with it next year. Also, during the winter months I will be working on UFO's only. Come spring it will be time for new things :0)
Crispy
I have stopped buying fabric except for the new Mary Koval line. I am not a horder I just think my time is better spent creating. I recently moved things out of my room because it was annoying me. I plan to spend more time hand quilting and working on quilts from stash. I have one on my design wall now that is all from stash. I hope we both keep going with our goals.
I confess that I have the same problem!
I am just now starting to think about some quilting goals for the new year.
I hope to do more hand quilting also
It sounds SOOOO familiar!!! I'm also addicted to fabrics - always wanna some new ones. And it's the other of my bad habits, always starting new projects before finishing the old ones. I totally failed with my goals in this year, so I must think very carefully the goals for 2011!
I don't have a fabric problem (yet) - I've just got one little box with my stash in - so I tend to use the stash I have - I only really buy more when I need it, not want it.
I hear ya about the computer time - I've been cutting down on that too - but it's nice when you need a sewing break to pop on and have a quick catch up :0)
Goals for 2011 - definitely plan on doing more stitcheries, patchwork (both hand and machine), beadwork and improving my quilting skills as quilting freaks me out a bit - especially the thought of larger projects!
your klosjes are gorgeous karen. 2011 is still soooo far away and i am trying to remember what my 2010 goals were....
My name is Linda and I have a similar problem. My goals are also to limit fabric buying and computer time. Sigh. Reading blogs is such fun!
In organizing my stash, I relized I have a zillion strips cut and in boxes. I do think 2011 will be the year of string quilts for me, and I certainly would like to do more cross stitch.
Either my camera or my computer are having issues with uploading, so I won't be able to join the One Flower Wednesday, and I worked on getting some done!
blessings,
jilly
Your 'klosjeslap' is steadily growing. Looks beautiful Karen.
My goals for 2011? I would rather not think about it ;-)
Jossie
Love your klosjes and so many already.
I love those beautiful klosjes!
Your Klosjes look great, Karen. And YES it sure somehow sounds famuliar - compulsive quilting hoarder. I couldn't help laughing when I read your post today :-).
I haven't decided what will be my goals for 2011, but it sure has to do with finishing some projects.
Wish you a wonderful Thanks Giving.
Anne-Mette
your klosjes are very nice. I'm thinking of one to..........
I suffer as you do, with the same weakness for fabrics and with the same desire to reduce computer time. I have UFOs galore to finish and way too many WIPs that need attention.
Hopefully 2011 will be a year when I'll have 12 full months of joyful, satisfying quilting. I want those UFOs and WIPs completed, and I don't need another inch of new fabric entering the house. (Good luck to me on THAT goal)
Good goals to set for the new year. I do buy much fabric anymore. Now only when I am something in mind to do.
I have not really thought about goals for myself. I didn't do very good this year. :(
Actually I haven't thought about the next year as myself as quilter. I just want to learn more about it, I guess. And continue what I'm doing, only a few less projects at the same time. Love your klosjes!
I'd really like to complete everything I have started this year - and not get sidetracked by fabulous new ideas or fabric! Sigh - it's so fun starting new projects but I can but hope - maybe I need to wish for more discipline.
Wait a minute, I thought you were writing about my life when you spoke of too much fabric, cutting back, hand applique, piecing, and quilting; unfinished projects taking up space for umpteen years...etc. Kindred spirits indeed. :)

I loved reading this posting - its sounds just like home :)
I'm impressed! Already thinking ahead to goals for next year... I think I'm doing okay on my goals from this year. It's going to be close though. Next year, I'm with you: less fabric. I definitely need to work on using my massive stash.
Hi Karen. When I read your post today, it felt as if it was me writing it. I feel the same!!!! Next year we will not buy anymore fabric(lappies) or books(I am addicted) or magazines. And oh my word, THE COMPUTER!!!!! Mine is in my kitchen..... so in 2011 ....no eating/cooking...no blogging..(hahaha) I love your blog. xxxxxxx
