Last week I headed off in one direction and ended up going in another. It turned out to be a good thing. A quilt that I was hand quilting, about this time last year, was set aside as the Christmas season approached and I never got back to it. Well, I'm back at it and determined to finish it before the week is up. Just one more block to quilt, then the binding.
I can feel it already. The hustle and bustle of the Christmas season has begun. It would be nice to get caught up on my A Tisket A Tasket baskets before the year ends. Then three of the four BOM's will be ready for piecing early in the New Year. Though I failed to keep up with the Red Delicious BOM, I will still continue on with this beautiful quilt.
The New Year will surely bring more wonderful free BOM's. I hope to be strong enough to save them for another day. With that said, I do plan on making Sweet Nostalgia. But, this wouldn't fall into the "being strong in 2010" category, as it came out in 2009. Wouldn't you agree?
Some bloggers are suggesting that 2010 be the year of finishes. I like that idea and am going to try my best to do just that. Still, I plan to start new projects. How can you not? After all, it is the pile of projects, which wait patiently for me, on the corner of my work table, that keep me going.
We crossed the border on Friday, to check out the Black Friday sales and I managed to get the rest of my DMC floss, at even less then I paid at the previous sale. Only .26 cents a piece! Now I have the whole DMC collection. Another great purchase was wool batting at 50% off and I can not wait to give that a try.
Until next week.....happy quilting!

I hope I can resist too many temptations for new projects next year. I really want to get going on the ufo's too. In fact I might have to devise a plan.
Karen, when you cross the border, where do you go?
Like you 2010 is for some finishes butI do have some lovely patterns I want to make.
I see temptations daily just through blogging and to think next year's fantastic patterns are just around the corner...yikes! Happy Holidays!!
It's lovely that you are finishing things! I'm a tad bit jealous as I have nothing even CLOSE to finishing, sigh. I hope to finish several things in 2010 but I did declare a moratorium on buying new fabric, let's see how that works!
Where did you find such a great deal on the floss? Wow!
I'm hoping to be disciplined enough to make 2010 my year of small quilts. Anything I start in 2010 is, according to my plan, going to be only for a small doll or wall quilt. No more large quilts until the three I have on the go are finished. Now, can I stick with that plan? Doubtful! :-)
OMGosh I'm so glad you mentioned the Tisket project, I haven't even printed November off yet...sheesh. Hooray for getting a UFO done!!
Crispy
Hand quilting sounds so calming now it's THAT time of year. Good Luck
Erin
I, too, was thinking that there would probably be some new bom's popping up soon. Something to look forward to.
Next year I really want to be one of those people that work on UFOs. Maybe I can do it.
Hi, Karen - I should really not be starting so many things any more at the age that I am, but I really don't start any really large pieces. And how could a quilter not buy fabric? It is absolutely true that the older you get the faster time goes! I guess that is because a person doesn't move around as quickly anymore. However, the big thing is to feel good and to still be moving around at all! I love your work-it is just plain lovely. Carol
The siren call of new projects is a continual temptation for me. Though I love the idea of a year of finishing, it sounds like a goal that may be far from my grasp. I may have to give it a try and just see how it goes. :)
But, of course, Sweet Nostalgia wouldn't count in that!
Well, 2009 was supposed to be my year of finishes, I think I started more than I finished!!! So.....2010 will be my year of finishes!!!
Your Black Friday sales bargains sound great!!!
I agree with working on the unfinished projects! I guess you could say I have already
sort of started....but, it is hard NOT to start
something new isn't it!!
It's so great to get out old projects and finish them. If you leave them long enough they almost feel like new projects again! Now that's killing two birds with one stone. Love your work.
