Quilt Jar

If you are like me, you have many quilting books and magazines. Pages marked, indicating quilts you must make. How about single patterns? I have lots of them too. Or, how about a head so full of ideas, you are afraid it may explode! The patterns just keep coming. And, don't forget the Internet, with hundreds of patterns right at your finger tips and many for free!

All markers have been removed from my books and magazines. Boy, does that look better! I have recorded (in a spiral notebook) all patterns and locations. So, when I am looking for something specific, I can refer to the notebook. Then, for times when I'm not sure what I want to make or feeling a little adventurous, I can go to my Quilt Jar. Everything that is in my notebook, is in my Quilt Jar. That's right! It doesn't take much to amuse this quilter!

This past weekend, brought lots of rain and a few large snowflakes. But, a stroll through the garden, still brings delight.

Golden Nugget Barberry

Gro-Low Fragrant Sumac

Maple Leaf

Last week, I finished appliqueing my special block, to go with the baby Dresden's. It's very cute! Next, I piece the blocks together, then, maybe a little more applique. We will see. I also did the prep work for a couple of small Christmas projects and a little hand quilting on my large Dresden quilt. Also, worked a little on my Polka-Dot Girls and made another Dear Jane block.

Until next week.....happy quilting!

Karen

That's a great idea I'll have to impliment once I get my sewing room up and running - all too often there are too many patterns we'd like to start but can't (or probably won't) make a final decision on - this takes makes things simpler.

Your pictures of your fall garden are glorious. How I love autumn and I do miss having a big garden. Love the way you are organizing all the projects and ideas you like in the magazines, etc. Having quilted for over 30 years, I have had to get rid of many magazines and even books since I had so many. Took them to my guild's quilt show where we always have a bazaar. But I have torn projects I like from the magazines and I have files of them. It's a bonanza for quilters! Every once in a while I weed them out since interests change and at 80 years old, I cannot possibly make them all! LOL But I am making as many as possible, by golly! Quilting remains my passion. Happy quilting!!

How sensible! Al my bits and pieces flutter to the floor when I open a pattern book. Now hunting for jars!

Love your idea for keeping all those potential quilts in a safe place, that is not just swirling around inside my head. A head that sometimes can get too full of ideas, that is...

Wow Karen, What a great idea is the Quilting Jar! Looks pretty too! :)
I always wash my jars and sometimes I save them, sometimes just recycle. Now if I can borrow your idea I could make a Quilt Jar!
Happy Stitching!
