October Moon


Fall is fast approaching, my favourite time of year.  Crisp flaky crust and smooth, creamy custard, pumpkin pies will soon be here.  During this chilly season I also like to delight in a warm cup of hot chocolate or, how about the tempting aroma of homemade applesauce as it is simmering on the stove.  Oh autumn, I welcome you,  it is none too soon for me!


My intention a couple of weeks back was to prepare October Moon for a later date, but Pumpkin Patch Cat said I should start right away.  A wise cat he is, as September 23 is the first day of fall and now my little wall quilt is ready to hang.

A fun applique project, I like how the cat is pieced with different strips of fabric.  October Moon is a two part pattern, I made the Pumpkin Patch Cat, but there is also a second wall hanging called Moon Cat, which is very cute as well, maybe a project for next fall.

    I love everything about fall, too...raking leaves, a pumpkin on the front porch, and Halloween. I love your projects. Your cat looks like he has personality! Very cute.

    I'm not familiar with applique patterns by Sandy Gervais. This one is autumn at its best, and your stitching is superb.

    Maybe I have told you this before, but I ALSO LOVE Autumn - walking in the woods on crispy sunny day is very relaxing! AND I also love your new project... pumpkins and cats are splendid combination;)

    I too love Sandy's patterns, especially her cross-stitch. Although i have not learned to cross-stitch yet, i bought a couple of hers intending to begin this fall.

    I so like fall quilts. Yours is a very good one. I had some of the orange fabric with the writing that I used for a pumpkin in a fall quilt.
