Books a Plenty

I'm a lover of books.  In fact, I have a bit of a weakness for them.  My personal library currently holds 156 quilt related books.  Quilting the Garden and When the Cold Wind Blows are my latest additions.  And, speaking of cold winds, is this not the perfect time of year to lose one's self in a good book?

The love of learning, the sequestered nooks,
And all the sweet serenity of books.
~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

POTC Signs of Fall
Sorry about the photo!  The white parts are really a rich cream.

POTC Autumn's Eve

Something else I have a weakness for are POTC blocks.  I am almost tempted to increase the size of my quilt.   But, once I start cutting out the 500 plus pieces (by hand) that I need to outline the blocks, I'm sure I will reconsider going larger.  Just three more blocks to go!

I purchased some DMC Satin Floss the other day and am guessing it is a fairly new product, as I have not seen it before.  Made from 100% rayon, it is very soft and has a brilliant sheen.  Maybe I can work some into Summer's Gone, my first Sweet Nostalgia block, which is almost half completed.

Until next time.....happy quilting!

Karen

  5. Quilting books are irrestible! And don't you find there are certain ones you go to time after time? The books by Blackbird Designs are just wonderful. I just love it when I find a really cool new book at Joann's and I have a 50% off coupon. Every once in a while you can find one of the brand new ones! Looking at your pictures, I see many of the same ones I have. :-) Carol

  6. Too funny! I love books too and have way too many quilting books. I definitely don't want to give them up. Between the two of us, we could open a bookstore.

  7. Books are good but I only have a few. Mine are either applique or books with little blocks in them. The POTC is beautiful

  10. Seeing your bookshelf, I feel a kinship. I recently got to setup a sewing center in our guest bedroom with bookshelves that were moved in from elsewhere. Now I have enough space to devote to just quilting.

  11. I also suffer from the inability to say "no" to yet another quilting book. But aren't they fun?

  14. I love books, too! Unfortunately, my crafty bookcase is completely full, and I've just about run out of room to stack them on the floor. :P Love your POTC blocks... the colors are just wonderful.

Your work is amazing!!! I love your collection of books also. I can only dream of such a collection at the moment.
So great to meet you and I have added myself as a follower to your blog now.
    Love Collette xxxx
