The Black Cauldron

You have to watch where you are walking this time of year as spiders and cobwebs seem to be everywhere.  Last Sunday it was warm enough to wear shorts and a T-shirt as I gave the garden its final weeding of the season.  Now, I wait for the first frost, and then garden clean-up begins.

The Black Cauldron

I almost forgot to show you, my first block of Hocuspocusville.  It sure is a fun one to stitch and I look forward to the next eleven blocks.  Done all in black thread, two strands and backstitched.  For a better look at the background fabric, click here.

One Ostrich to go, then I will be finished appliqueing Block 18 of the Civil War Bride quilt.  But, first it's time for a tasty treat, homemade peanut brittle.

Until next time.....happy quilting!

Wow! Now that's a SPIDER! We have a garden variety that is black and yellow, but not that big. That's a cute block your working on. Looking forward to seeing more.

I don't mind the spiders, although walking into an unseen web can be a sticky situation! I don't mind them outside, that is, in the house is an entirely different matter! Love the stitchery--No, Gail, you positively may not begin another project!

What a lovely stitchery, the background fabric is lovely, too.
The peanut brittle looks yummy. The spider doesn't!!!
Happy quilting, Cisca

I love your hocuspocus ville block. I have 2 completed. I am using aurifil #12. Most of it is in stemstich but i am using a backstitch for the lettering. I haven't chosen my fabrics for the nine patch blocks yet. I usually work on this or my knitting when i am in the car. I think i need a long road trip to make some progress!!!

Delightful. I was thinking that Hocuspocusville was a cross stitch pattern but I see it is a stitchery. I will have to look at the pattern.

The Black Cauldron looks great, beautiful stitching! I love looking at spider webs - so intricate - but I hate when I'm outside early in the morning collecting water samples and I walk into one, they're so sticky!

I do like your stitchery and the background fabric is very nice. How many blocks is there in one top?
The cobwebs are really fun to look at, I always think of it as some kind of art, it is amazing how the spiders do that.
Looking forward seeing your ostrich block, and your homemade peanut brittle looks yammy.

Take care

Great post for this season of year, which, by the way, is my favorite. The stitchery is so pretty, spider spooky and peanut brittle looks soooooo good! Save me a piece, Karen! Carol

Spider time! I like watching them when weaving their webs.
The stitchery is great. It looks rather creepy and could become a boy's favourite. I already can hear the sounds he would make to get along with it and scare his baby sister :)

Hocuspocusville is a new one to me. I have to check that out. I just love that stitchery. And I am wanting to pull my 30s fabrics out and make something. I love the ones you added to your stash.
