A Needle and Thread Kind of Week

Spring is in the air and with it came lots of snow.  The poor flowers appeared and then disappeared under a heavy white blanket, but without a doubt they will reappear.  In the meantime, all warm and cosy inside, I have been busy working on a variety of projects.

Hand quilting is almost completed on my Confetti doll quilt and the binding is ready and waiting to finish it off.

Well hand quilting I tested out the Clover Protect and Grip Thimble which is made from flexible rubber, but I soon set it aside.   It was so flexible as you press down on the needle the metal tip wobbles all over the place.  I think it was designed for the tipsy quilter!  I find the rubber is just not firm enough to support the metal tip.

I also finished cutting out the stars for my Friendship Star doll quilt and began hand piecing them on the weekend.  Just three more to go!   I also made freezer paper templates, selected fabric and began cutting out the applique pieces for my next Civil War Bride block.  And, a little more hand piecing of Klosjes and the borders around my Shades of Autumn POTC blocks.

198 Klosjes Completed
18 made last week

So, all in all, last week was pretty good quilting wise and the way the sun is shining today, the snow should be gone in no time.  Thursday I will be back with my March Clamshell Report, progress has been very good, and now my fingers are crossed for another productive week.

Until next time.....happy quilting!

Karen

You certainly did have a productive week! Your 'klosjes' look very springy (despite the snow outside). I like your friendship star blocks too, it is a very nice block to make a doll quilt. The strawberries from a few posts ago look good. Are you going to sew the remainig leaves over the binding?

You have certainly had a very productive week! I'd like to try a doll quilt sometime, but I'm afraid of the tiny pieces. i did buy a pattern yesterday for a tiny quilt, so I guess I'll give it a try. Yours is lovely.

Lovely projects Karen. You have been busy! The klosjes are so cute.
You are right about the flexible thimble. I also have one and it doesn't work for me either nor for my quilting friends. We all put it away.
Sending you some of our beautiful spring weather....

The klotsjes are so cute. I really like them done in 30s.

Our snow is starting to melt - hope yours is doing likewise. Really is nice, though, when a person can be housebound from snow, etc., and still have no problem occupying time with things you love. It's a good thing.

The blocks all look wonderful. Hey send some of that sun my way. It keeps snowing around here, though the new stuff is melting off quickly but sun would get rid of the snow that been here since the 1st of November :0)

I was interested to read about your Clover thimble because I have one and wouldn't use anything else now. I love it and find it moulds to my finger and doesn't move. I guess we all have to find the thing that works best for them.
