Fiddlin Around

I headed off to my sewing room one evening with a purpose and before you knew it, I was just fiddling around.  The large stack of quilting magazines, sitting upon the shelf, caught my eye.  Out came the scissors and I started to thumb through the pages.  Interesting how our taste changes and I ended up saving very little.

Next, I started going through a pile of single patterns and even though I still really like some of them I decided it was time to give them up.  My wish list of quilts to make continues to grow, so why hold onto something that most likely will never come to be.  The next day, armed with a bag full of goodies, I headed over to my sisters.  Out came her scissors and you know the rest.

I was thinking of posting a large chart on the wall of my sewing room with outstanding projects, but because I enjoy the process more then the finish, I decided not to pressure myself.  But, out of curiosity, I did make a list to see where I stand and it wasn't as bad as I thought.

Quilts in the Making:
3 ready for machine quilting (2 small, 1 medium)
5 ready for hand quilting (3 small, 1 medium, 1 large)
2 being appliqued (both large)
2 blocks to turn into something
2 being machine pieced (both small)
5 being hand pieced (4 medium, 1 large)
3 stitchery (1 small, 1 medium, 1 large)

Maybe as I did with Karen's Flower Garden, I can slowly start to allot a little time each week to each of the groups above.  Now, don't for one minute think this is going to stop me from starting new projects as life's to short for that kind of silly stuff!

So, what's with the pattern in the photo above?

It's a giveaway!

GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED

I love this pattern, but most likely will never get around to making it.  So, if you can promise me that you will piece it together in the near future and not file it away, then leave a comment asking to be entered in the giveaway.

Until next time.....happy quilting!

Karen

I promise to do my best! I've eyed this pattern at Lynda's website for quite sometime and would have no excuses not to do it if it were in hand.

I would love to make this quilt. I love Lynda's designs. It's a great primitive quilt.

I would LOVE to win that pattern! It was the one that drew me to Primitive Pieces by Linda in the first place. :O)

I would so love to make this Karen.
Your to do list does not look bad at all. I do like the way you phrased" Life is too short not to start anything new".

I think we all have patterns that will never get made even though we really like the quilt. Fun to dream.

I love this pattern and would make it !
I am looking for graphic quilts to make to hang in our living room. We have a wall that has a quilt on it now but I want to make a few others so I can switch it out every few months.
This would work!

I am too scared to make a list! I love Primitves by Linda's patterns but know I would not make it anywhere in the near future so don't count me in.

Dear Karen,
I love how you say that you love the process;
I have noticed that about myself but was scared to admit it.
Ofcourse I love finishes, but they also make me sad...
:)
I think I will follow your example and do a bit of a clean-up and maybe dare to make a list myself...

Your list is actually pretty doable but like you said, don't pressure yourself. You'll get things done as they appeal to you :0)

PS - Don't put me in the drawing....I have my own list of things to do LOL.

I've been wanting to make a Pine Burr. These colors remind me of the "baby maker" quilt from The Proposal. Please add my name to the drawing.
Great blog. I've been lurker for quite a while.

(not for the giveaway) But I have to say I really appreciated that you shared your projects with us. I find that I too enjoy the process more then the finish and I also don't like to pressure myself. Wreaks havoc on my health. So I like to keep it casual but it is difficult to keep track and stay focused sometimes. Then I go off and visit here and before you know it I'm considering another start! hmmm...

I tend to make lists for everything: groceries, to-do household, whom-to-phone, cards to write but ..... never ever made a list of all my projects!! OMG, don't think they sell paper that is large enough LOL!! I have to come back on this planet at least 3 times over LOL! Oh, how wise you are!! Happy sewing, hugs, Daniëlle

What a great pattern. I'm guessing there is paper piecing involved? That would be a perfect project for me right now! dsb448@att.net

I would LOVE to make this...I recently inherited a big pile of plaids that I want to use together, and this would be perfect. It resembles "pine burr," which is something I've always wanted to try. I would make it this fall, when the beautiful colors break out in Michigan!

In stitches,
Teresa :o)

I love Primitive Pieces by Lynda patterns. In fact, I'm sewing one right now (Cranbrook Christmas, if I remember the title correctly.) I hope it's not too late to enter.
Thanks!

You won't believe this, but I thought about doing this EXACT same thing w/some of my patterns, videos, etc.! lol
Don't count me in the drawing, cause I have enough on my plate. But, thanks for confirming my thoughts on passing it along... HUGS!!!!!

Oh, P.s.
I have a question about the Wed. Group, please email me. XO

As I am new at this quilt-business: there is a lot more I can do. So I would definitly make this quilt! Your list is impressive, but I know what you mean with that it is not about the finish. Before I started with quilting I thought it was, but it isn't. You're so right about that! Enjoy your piecing and quilting!

No, I won't make this in the near future, too many other things on the go. And yes, making a list is an amazing way to work through some older projects, It's amazing how close to finished we are when we abandon some tops. This is a year for working through lists for me, I do this every couple of years. It feels so good to finish an older project, and yes, I still start new ones, but I seem to finish them in my year of lists.

Maybe it is an idea to take up a challenge with someone to finish a quilt before the end of the year. It works for me (see clamshells and what they did to the world .. lol)

And please don't enter me in the give away. Like you I have shelves filled with patterns, books, ideas and little time.
