My Country Calendar

When I think of country, I think of homespun, so that is what I went with to finish my Country Calendar quilt.  As a child, I lived in the country, on a large wooded lot, with a creek running along one side, a pond on the other and Mayapples covering the ground. We tapped maple trees and played in the woods for hours.  Nature was our toy box.  Today I'm a city girl who longs for the country again.  For the trip down memory lane, I thank you Ellen.

Green acres is the place to be
Farm living is the life for me
Land spreading out,
so far and wide
Keep Manhattan,
just give me that countryside.

Until next time.....happy quilting!

Excellent choice for framing those sweet blocks. I also grew up in the country and miss it dearly. It never leaves our hearts.

Your quilt is so great.
We have Mayapples in our woods and think they are the neatest little plants. Wish they were around longer.

Sweet little wallhanging. Love your description of your "toybox". Ours was the riverbank - looking for pretty rocks and indian beads and turning over rocks to find leaches. Lovely hours spent there. Carol

The homespuns are perfect for the quilt. Very nice, Karen! I grew up in the suburbs, but my heart longs to live in the country. I get out in those open spaces and feel like I'm home. Your childhood home sounds wonderful.
