Simple Pleasures

Enjoying the simple pleasures of life, letting nature do the entertaining, finding a balance between activity and quiet time, and not spending a lot of money in the process.

Hellebores is truly a Springtime treasure. Such a shame their pretty little heads hang down. At only two inches out of the ground, most passers by will never even notice them.

Last week seemed to fly right by and the only project I completed was a quilted tote bag. I started working on Nightshade, the second Red Delicious block. Most of my time was spent working on my Going Green quilt. Speaking of that, it is time to test the bamboo batting. Next week, I will let you know what I think of it. So.....

Until next week.....happy quilting!

Karen

Love the tote and I too love Hellebores, I think we have about 20 now but of course ours won't be out for a few months yet, I think about September we start to see their serene nodding heads appear under the trees, Liz

I just used my first bamboo batting. the only thing I noticed was that it felt "sticky" and after I had loaded it on the machine, I usually don't quilt until the next day and make sure all the wrinkles fall out. These didn't. Hmmm. And once the top is laid on top, IT AIN'T MOVING!!! I will be interested to hear what you think of it. I haven't finished binding this quilt, I am wondering how it will feel after washing.

Flowers--all we have here is snow.

My Hellebores is starting to perk up after a long winter too! I have tried the bamboo batting and found that I really liked it... I think you will too!

Karen your bag is delightful.
Let me know if you find the bamboo batting. I was able to buy it once and have never seen it again.

Hi Karen,
Thanks for stopping by to visit. I absolutely LOVE your blog! You are such an inspiration to me. Everything that you do is so beautiful.

I am a beginner quilter. I have only made three baby quilts thus far in my quilting journey. Right now I am working on a project for my grandbaby - as soon as that is done I am going to begin an applique quilt that I have been dreaming about. (fabrics are all washed and ironed in preparation - yay!)Looking at all of the beautiful quilts that you create has made me itch to complete one of my own.

Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful ideas and quilts - it keeps me coming back for more!
Blessings,
Kymber

I love Hellebores and used to grow them but now I don't have a garden. I have been wondering a lot about the bamboo batting. The piece o' cake ladies like it.

We've had some warm days lately and I can see the plants just popping out of the ground. I love the Hellebores too. I love your Simple Pleasures quote.

Really cute bag, Karen. I would say that is a nice showing for the week. The Hellebores - does that have a common name? I thought I had some of those at one time but don't remember the botanical name. Do remember the flowers were lovely and came in early spring. I have grown so many different flowers over the years, but now I just do container gardening. Have always loved flowers as much as fabric!!
